Making a copy of La Tene vase
Gerry had made some samples a couple of days ago to see if he could get the correct red shiney finish for the coating of the vase, so today he made the body of the pot.
It is made in two halves, the rounded top and the pedestal bottom. When they are slightly hard they will get joined together.
Gerry used 5kg of clay to make the top part of the vase. The base is very narrow so he had to throw it on a wooden bat, which is attached to the wheel. He made the pot to the correct height before refining the shape.
Tomorrow he will join the pedestal part to this top part to form one large vase.
