A Little Order! Something to be cheerful about....
Since the lockdown we've had a few more people than usual order things online. Today we sent out a few garlic roasters to a customer in the South. Thanks should be given to all those who work for carrier services enabling some businesses to keep going.
Roasted garlic is yummy. You put the whole bulb in the oven with a bit of oil and cook it. Then you squeeze out the cloves which are all squashy, soft and caramalised - tastes devine and without the strong pungency of garlic. You can use it for garlic butter, add it to mayonnaise, put it on bread .....
Gerry makes each one on the wheel. He throws a round shape and pulls up the clay at the top so it resembles the top of a garlic bulb, squeezes dents into it and takes it off the wheel head. When it is a bit drier, he cuts a wiggly line near the bottom, thus making a lid.
It is fired and glazed in an oatmeal coloured glaze so it looks like a garlic bulb!
